Here Are Some Funny Laws That Can Get You Arrested Abroad

Are you planning to travel anytime soon? Maybe you want to visit certain countries as a tourist? These are a few ridiculous, funny but very serious offenses that could land you jail time in these countries. Some of these countries you may be dreaming to go may not be as fun for you because of some laws

1. Spitting on a footpath
This is an offense in an Africa country, Nairobi, Kenya to be precise. Spitting or blowing your nose on any footpath in public in Nairobi is highly illegal. If you want to do any of that, it should be in a cloth or tissue. Also, funny but serious in Nairobi is picking your nose in public.

2. Smoking in a public place
If visiting Ukraine is I’m your plans, then you should note that smoking or drinking in public can land you jail time.

3. Chewing gum
Chewing gum has been banned in Singapore since 1992. If you are caught chewing gum, you can pay up to $100,000 in fines or face up to 2 years in jail time. You will only be spare if you are chewing gum for medical purposes only.

4. Crossing the road
Disobeying traffic laws by crossing the road after the traffic sign says STOP will definitely cost you a fine in the United States of America. This term is simply called Jaywalking.

5. Connecting to someone else’s wifi
What may seem like a norm in Nigeria can actually attract you either a fine or jail time in Singapore. If you connect to someone else’s Wifi without their knowledge, it is referred to as hacking and you wither pay $10,000 or spend three years in jail.

6. Frowning
Frowning is absolutely against the law in Milan, Italy. If you are not at a funeral or at the hospital, you should always have a smile. This law has actually been in existence for a very long time now.

7. Cussing
This is against the law in Australia. In locations like Queensland, Victoria, and New South Wales, you could get up to six months for swearing and offensive language and you will be tried without a jury. Same as in the United Arab Emirates, making rude gestures like flicking a finger either offline and online could result in offenders being jailed or deported.

8. Drinking alcohol
Thailand is one of the hottest travel destinations for 2018. However, it is illegal to purchase alcohol in the country between midnight to 11 am and between 2 pm and 5 pm.

9. Flushing the toilet at night
Did you know flushing the toilet after 10 pm is considered noise pollution in Switzerland? Well, now you do.

10. Wearing camo
This is a common rule, in many parts of Africa for example. This is also applicable in Barbados and many parts of the Caribbeans.

11. Singing at night
Countries like Honolulu, Hawaii, singing karaoke either very late at night, or even after sunset is absolutely not allowed.
