It was like yesterday when Android enter into mobile world, gain its existence and began to gain root. Suprisingly, you’ll hardly see any household that doesn’t have this little freaking robot squeaking in their pocket. Now, this robot seems to have got a new contender as the world’s first Ubuntu powered smartphone has been unveiled, the Aquaris E4.5.
Canonical, the firm behind the newly launched Ubuntu smartphone made the announcement on Friday. The phone is available in China via BQ while flash sales will begin next week in Europe. The Aquaris E4.5 Ubuntu Edition cost €170 (Roughly $195 USD).
Rather than Android homescreen widget/app that stay transfixed and can maintain one app at a time, the Ubuntu homescreen can aggregate information from different sources.
The Aquaris E4.5 features a 4.5-inch IPS display with a resolution of 540*960 pixels touting a pixel density of 245ppi. Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by a quad-core Cortex A7 processor with a clock speed of 1.3GHz coupled with 1GB of RAM.
It comes with an 8GB built-in storage which is expandable via MicroSD card and support dual-SIM functionality. The Aquaris E4.5 touts an 8-megapixel autofocus rear camera with BSI sensor and dual LED flash which supports full-HD (1080p) video recording while it also houses a 5-megapixel front camera. It is backed by a 2,150mAh battery.
