Amazon has officially taken the wraps off its new smart speaker that surfaced earlier this week. Dubbed Echo Show, the box speaker is the company’s latest addition to its Alexa-powered smart products.
Unlike previous Echo device, the new Echo Show comes with a 7-inch touch display that offers visual to better reflects the smartness of Alexa voice assistant in a more intuitive way. It has eight noise-cancelling microphones with beam-forming technology that negates background noise to let users make a clear-to-call action even at a long distance.
With the new smart speaker by Amazon, users can also make and receive video calls, thanks to 5-megapixel camera pinned at the front above the display and WiFi 802.11ac wireless connectivity included, which will also allow users to stream audio over a wide variety of music service such as Pandora, TuneIn, Sportify, iHeartRadio and Amazon Music.
While streaming, the lyrics are synchronize and display on the screen. The Echo Show can be wake by simply uttering “Alexa”. For privacy, Amazon included a button to turn the camera and mics off when not needed. This especially may raise privacy concern if not included.
The Echo Show is available for pre-orders for $229.99 in White and Black colors. It will start shipping from 28th of June.
