Update: Although this tutorial still hold true and still works, WhatsApp Web now offers a better simpler way to use WhatsApp on your PC. We suggest you give it a try.

Whatsapp is an easy to use chat app that help users communicate with friends and loved ones without restrictions and advert, though you’ll have to shed $0.99 per year, which considering the benefit involve doesn’t seems high in our own point-of-view.

Almost all mobile operating system platforms are supported, excluding some Nokia Asha series (Asha 202, 210) and smartphones running old Android versions (Android 1.5, 1.6, and 2.0) which are almost extinct anyway. Its interface is easy to understand and doesn’t looks complicated for beginners to grab.

Update: WhatsApp no longer supports Android 2.3 and below, Nokia Asha and Symbian series, and old BlackBerry phones.

However, not everyone stick with their phone all the time, checking phone is a distraction while working and you may not have the time to check and reply those notifications that are mostly important. If you got a PC in your working place, then this tutorial may help set things right.

To run Android apps on PC is quite easy, all you need is an Android emulator and the apk file of the app you want to run.

Here is a step by step guide on how to run Whatsapp on PC

    • Download and install Bluestacks from here to your PC
    • Download Whatsapp apk file to your PC and double-click on it, the app will auto install itself to Bluestacks program.
    • Open Bluestacks, you’ll see it listed among apps installed. Click on it to launch and enter your phone number for verification.
    • Whatsapp will try to verify the number by SMS but will fail, don’t panic. After few minutes it’ll offer you a voice verification option, accept and you will receive a phone call with the verification code.

  • Enter the code and you will be logged in. You can now minimize Bluestack to keep it running.

Note: Only one device is allowed to login at a time using your phone number. When you logged in to Whatsapp on your PC you will be logged out on your mobile phone and vice versa.
