Big Brother Naija, the biggest reality show ins Africa has produced lots of big names that are doing really well and making Nigeria proud in the entertainment industry especially in Nollywood. Here’s a list of some of the former BBNaija stars that are leaving their footprints in Nollywood.
Bisola Aiyeola was the first runner-up in the BBN ‘See Gobbe’ edition that happened in 2017. This was the edition that followed the first-ever BBNaija in 2006. She however had dabbled in Nollywood before making it to the BBNaija house has a housemate but after the show ended, she was more recognized which gave her more roles in movies. Bisola has put her vast entertaining experience in movies like ‘Sugar Rush’, ‘Gold Statue’, and ‘Pay Day’, among others. She also won the African Magic Viewer’s Choice Trailblazers Award in 2018 which is a big deal.
Gideon Okeke contested in the first BBNaija edition in the year 2006. He dove into acting after the show. One of his most popular roles is Phillip Ade-Williams in the television series, ‘Tinsel’. Apart from tinsel, he has also featured in movies like ‘Gidi Blues’, ‘Heaven’s Hell’, and ‘When Love Happens’.
When Tope Adenibuyan, aka Teddy A, got into the Big Brother House in 2018, he was already an up and coming musician and just wanted a platform to boost his career. Since he left the reality show, Teddy A, who is married to another former BBN contestant, BamBam, his love interest in the house has taken his shot in Nollywood movies including ‘The Gift’, ‘No Budget’, ‘Unsane’; and also a Nigerian TV series, ‘Jenifa’s Diary.’
In 2018, Tobi Bakre, resigned from his job as an Investment Banker to become a housemate in the Big Brother Naija reality TV show’s third season. Although he didn’t win the prize, he has had a successful run in the entertainment industry. He is in some Nollywood movies like; ‘Sugar Rush’, ‘Fix Us’, ‘Mokalik’, ‘Phases’, ‘Hustle’ and TV series, ‘Jenifa’s Diary.’
Venita Akpofure had been in some movies before she actually became a housemate in the BBNaija PepperDem season which took place last year, 2019. She gained more recognition and prominence after appearing in the PepperDem season. Venita has starred in movies such as ‘Kambili: The Whole 30 Yards’, ‘Unmarried’, While You Slept’, and ‘Losing Control.’
