After been nominated for the second time running, Burna Boy finally becomes a Grammy award winner. In 2020, Burna Boy was expected to win the Best World Music Album category, which was won by the influential Angelique Kidjo, in 2021.

Burna found himself being nominated for the same category but was up against different artists, and there was so much buzz all around the social media space about Burna winning it this year, and as expected Damini Ogulu, won a Grammy award for the “Best Global Music Album” category.

This is what he said after winning:  “To every African out there, no matter where you are, no matter what you plan to do, you can achieve it; no matter where you’re from, you are a king. Look at me now – Grammy award-winning Burna Boy. Thank you to everyone.” The Grammys described Twice As Tall as “a masterclass in the vibe and hustle that have made Burna Boy an international musical force”.

“[He] continues to torch limitations, seamlessly blending styles and genres and fearlessly fuelling the fire heating the melting pot of pop, Afrobeat, dancehall, reggae and more,” it said.
