HTC has added a new cheaper variant of its 2014 flagship smartphone to its portfolio named as One M8s. It is more pocket-friendly and less powerful than its predecessor the One M8. Availability is yet to be revealed but its price falls between $370 – $390.
The One M8s and One M8 looks much alike on the outside and it also comes with a curved premium metallic body. It features a 5-inch display with a resolution of 1080*1920 pixels, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The smartphone is powered by a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 (4-cores 1.7GHz + 4-cores 1.0GHz) processor coupled with 2GB RAM which is less powerful than Snapdragon 801 on One M8.
Notably, the One M8s runs Android 5.0 Lollipop out-of-the-box topped with HTC Sense UI.
At the rear, the device sports a 13-megapixel autofocus camera, 5-megapixel for capturing depth view, and LED flash while it also houses a 5-megapixel front camera for selfie shot with Eye Experience. It will be available in two storage options, 16GB and 32GB, both of which can be further expanded up to 128GB via MicroSD card.
Connectivity options included are 4G LTE, 3G, Bluetooth, Wifi, GPRS/EDGE, GPS/A-GPS, NFC, and USB. It is fuelled by a 2840mAh battery. The HTC One M8s will be available in Gunmetal Grey, Amber Gold, and Glacial Silver color variants.
