Last week, Infinix added a new phablet to its Note series, Note 2 X600, to join the rest of the crew which are Hot Note X551 and Hot Note Pro. Being the first in the group to run Android 5.1 Lollipop out-of-the-box and to support 4G LTE makes it something worth considering and tempting enough to persuade anyone to sell their former device just to get it. Besides the Note series, we also have the Zero series. Currently topping the line in that category is Zero 2 X509, which was released in June.
If you are one of those still using Zero 2 X509 and you’ve just heard about Note 2 X600, you might be thinking of upgrading. Did we just say upgrading? No, not unless you know what both are capable of. We mean their difference, weakness, similarities and their overall performance. Before you make your decision, we recommend you read their comparison below.

Note 2 X600 -> 6.0-inch IPS display, HD (1280×720 pixels) resolution, 245ppi pixel density
Zero 2 X509 -> 5-inch Super AMOLED display, HD (1280×720 pixels) resolution, 294ppi pixel density
Note: The first noticeable difference here is their screen size, followed by technology used in each display. An extra inch makes Note 2 X600 unlikely to be pocket-friendly (in terms of size) compare to Zero 2 X509, but also provides extra wide view of what is shown on screen which is good when it comes to gaming and multimedia stuffs. IPS and Super AMOLED are entirely two different things. While the first is respected for its natural lively colors, the later is treasured for its perfection when it comes to reflecting black color. To be realistic, you’ll experience clearer, sharper image on X509 than on X600. And a wider, best aspect view on X600 than on X509. You choose.
Processor And RAM:
Note 2 X600 -> 64-bit 1.3GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6753 processor, Mali-T720 GPU, 1.5GB/2GB RAM
Zero 2 X509 -> 2.0GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6592 processor, Mali 450 GPU, 2GB RAM
Note: 64-bit VS 32-bit. 1.3GHz octa-core VS 2.0GHz octa-core. Now, that’s what we called tempting. In speed, X509 will definitely outrun X600, but, what about the GPU (Mali-450) which is now considered outdated. What brings the greatness out of GPU most time, either in a laptop, notebook or any other device is the performance of the processor, and clock speed has something to do with it. Both has 8-core and that’s what matters. The efficiency of a GPU somehow relies on clock speed of the processor. What powers the GPU if not the processor. So, we expect Zero 2 X509 to perform better than x600 in speed and multitasking, and averagely in gaming. Both has nearly same RAM capacity, so no big deal.
Note 2 X600 -> 13-megapixel rear camera with autofocus, LED flash; 2-megapixel front camera
Zero 2 X509 -> 13-megapixel rear camera with autofocus, LED flash; 5-megapixel front camera
Note: Both has same megapixel at the rear, but the Zero 2 X509 packs a more enhanced front camera, and that’s a big PLUS when it comes to taking selfie.
Note 2 X600 -> 16GB built-in storage, expandable up to 32GB via MicroSD card
Zero 2 X509 -> 16GB built-in storage, expandable up to 32GB via MicroSD card
Note: Nothing changes here. Both are expandable and has enough storage to host multimedia files and data.
Note 2 X600 -> Dual-SIM, Bluetooth 4.0, Wifi, 4G LTE, 3G HSPA+, GPRS/EDGE, GPS, FM radio, and Micro-USB.
Zero 2 X509 -> Dual-SIM, Bluetooth 4.0, Wifi, 3G HSPA+, GPRS/EDGE, GPS, FM radio, and Micro-USB.
Note: The only PLUS here for Note 2 is 4G LTE, but only the 2GB RAM version has. The 1.5GB RAM version of Note 2 only support 3G. Unfortunately, their pricing is different. If you can survive without LTE, then you have nothing to worry about.
Note 2 X600 -> 4,040mAh battery, fast charging
Zero 2 X509 -> 2,300mAh battery
Note: The most important reason why you may consider upgrading is the best battery life Note 2 X600 offers which Zero 2 X509 flatly lacks. We don’t know why such a powerful device is packing a mere 2,300mAh battery. If the recently launched entry-level Hot 2 X510 can backed a 2,200mAh battery, then atleast 2,800mAh should had come with this device. In one word, the Note 2 X600 kills Zero 2 X509 in this aspect.
Note 2 X600 -> Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.
Zero 2 X509 -> Android 4.4.2 KitKat
Note: Another reason you might want to consider X600 is the latest Android operating system version it runs. Which means more features, customization, improved security, and easier access of use.
The Infinix Zero 2 X509 sports a kevlar-made back cover which is an additional bonus. Now that things appears more clearly, its your turn to decide if you are going to upgrade or not. Both has its own weakness and strongness, but sometimes weakness can be strongness in disguise. You decide.
