Lenovo K8 Plus Is Official with Helio P25 SoC, Upgradeable to Android 8.0 Oreo

Lenovo K8 Plus

Lenovo has launched a new variant of its “K” smartphone series in India not long after it introduced K8 Note in the said region last month. The new device dubbed K8 Plus, resembles K8 Note in design, with the camera lenses, capacitive software keys and fingerprint sensor placed at exact position as seen on K8 Note. They however greatly differs in specs and notably in pricing.

It’s good to see that Lenovo still has strong self will by deciding not to board the bezel-less train that is plaguing the world at the moment, providing enough bezel space on the top and bottom of the display for users to rest their fingers on while using the phone. To make operating the phone more easier, the K8 Plus comes with a dedicated button (located on the side) that allows users to play/pause music in one click. The button is customizable for use with other apps and system options as well.

In terms of specs, the K8 Plus features a 5.2-inch full-HD (1920×1080) touchscreen display with 450 nits brightness, protected on the surface by Corning Gorilla Glass. An octa-core MediaTek Helio P25 chipset clocked at 2.5GHz powered the device on the inside, coupled Mali-T880 GPU. The phone is offered in 3GB RAM and 4GB RAM versions, both sideloaded with 32GB of internal storage with supports of MicroSD slot to further expand the limited storage (up to 128GB).

The smartphone runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box, but it will be upgradeable to Android 8.0 Oreo in the near future, according to Lenovo. In photography, it sports dual 13MP + 5MP rear cameras with f/2.0 aperture and dual-tone LED flash, while an 8MP camera with 84-degree wide-angle lens is equipped at the front, also accompanied with a LED flash.

The K8 Plus supports Dolby Atmos and comes loaded with Lenovo’s TheaterMax technology for immersive audio experience. Connectivity options provided are 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.1, WiFi 802.11ac (dual band), 3G, 2G, GPS, FM radio, and USB OTG. It is backed by a non-removable 4000mAh battery.

The phone is themed in Venom Black and Fine Gold colors. The 3GB RAM version is priced at Rs 10,999 ($165) and will be available exclusively on FlipKart starting from September 7th, with various launch offers included. The 4GB RAM version is expected to launch soon. No details on its pricing.
