The minister said the presidential advisory group set up on the issue has finished its work and has suggested the returning of the borders.

She said a proper declaration on the issue will be made once the council presents its report to President Muhammadu Buhari.

She, in any case, didn’t uncover when the report will be submitted and how soon the land borders will be resumed.

The Federal Government shut the land borders with neighboring countries in August 2019, to address pirating exercises in the border territories.

Review that in December 2019, the Federal Government said it won’t resume land borders until Niger and the Benin Republic followed the ECOWAS economic alliance.
