Lekki Shooting: Lagos State Governor, Sanwo-Olu Visits Victims At The Hospital

The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has disclosed that at least 28 people were injured at the Lekki Tollgate shooting late Tuesday night when soldiers shot at #EndSARS protesters in the Lekki area of Lagos State.

Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, made this disclosure via his Twitter handles early Wednesday morning but he didn’t say anything about the number of fatalities at the scene.

He made this known shortly after he visited the victims who sustained different degrees of gunshot wounds from the shooting done by soldiers at Lekki tollgate.

The Lagos State Governor Sanwo-Olu further explained that the injured victims were currently receiving medical treatment across three different hospitals in the state.

According to him on his Twitter page, 10 victims are being treated at the General Hospital, 11 at Reddington, and four hospitalized at Vedic medical facility.

The governor also confirmed that the victims sustained injuries from mild to moderate, but two were receiving intensive medical care.

He added that so far, three patients have been discharged from the hospital, while at the time of this report, 25 were still at the hospital.

Governor Sanwo-Olu also said that the reason he took the time to respond to the shooting is that he had to put the welfare of the victims of the unfortunate incident first.

“This is the toughest night of our lives as forces beyond our direct control have moved to make dark notes in our history, but we will face it and come out stronger,” he said.

The governor also promised that the state government would not relent but will continue to monitor and ensure that all the injured victims were given the best care. He also stated that a state broadcast will be given in the morning.
