Xiaomi Mi 6X Goes Official with 20MP Selfie Camera, Snapdragon 660 Chipset

Xiaomi Mi 6X

The Mi 6X has finally been made official in China after several rumors that dominated the web in the past few weeks. Xiaomi today announced the new device, revealing its authentic specifications and pricing details for the Chinese market. The Mi 6X can be considered as an upgrade when compared with the original Mi 6 that was launched last year.

It runs the latest Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box buttered with MIUI 9. In terms of specifications, the phone features a 5.99-inch IPS display with 2.5D curved glass on top, flaunting a pixel resolution of 2160×1080 and an aspect ratio of 18:9. Under the hood is an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 Mobile Platform running at a speed of 2.2GHz, paired with Adreno 512 GPU.

The Mi 6X is offered in three different variant; 4GB RAM with 64GB storage version, 6GB RAM with 64GB storage version, and there is a high-end model with 6GB of RAM and 128GB storage. All of these has a MicroSD expansion slot that can accept up to 128GB of additional storage. The MicroSD slot can be use as a secondary SIM card slot.

In photography, the Mi 6X has dual rear camera laid at the upper-left on the phone back—the cameras are vertically arranged of course. The first one at the top which act as the primary camera has a 12MP sensor with an f/1.75 aperture and 1.25μm pixel size, while the secondary camera has a 20MP sensor. These cameras sports Sony sensors (IMX486/IMX376) for better image clarity. There is a 20MP camera at the front for taking selfie which also has an f/1.75 aperture and comes accompanied with a soft LED flash. Sony IMX376 sensor resides in the front camera as well.

The camera software is optimized with AI (Artificial Intelligence) which can auto detect 206 different scenes and use the data to improve photo taken in real-time.

Unfortunately, Xiaomi has followed the latest trend of debunking the traditional 3.5mm headphones jack and has instead opted-in for USB Type-C audio. Apart from USB Type-C other connectivity included with the Mi 6X are Bluetooth 5 LE, WiFi 802.11ac dual-band, 4G VoLTE, 3G, GPS, and GLONASS. There is a fingerprint sensor at the back and a 3,010mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3 supports.
