ZTE Axon M Multy

Update

Foldable smartphones have been the primary focus of technology companies recently, with rumours revolving around the web of first debut sometime this year. Samsung, ZTE and even Apple were known to be working on a phone with screen that can be folded without partition.

The Axon M (a.k.a Axon Multy) has been in the news radar for sometime now as one of the foldable smartphone ZTE is working on. The company however, has finally launched the device in the United States, but not with a foldable screen as expected. Instead, it has two separate screens that can be folded outwardly, one screen facing the front and the other facing the back, with a hinge separating both displays.

The phone makes good use of both screens in an amazing way that has never been seen on Android. ZTE is touting four different schemes in which the displays can be use for multitasking. Dual Mode let users runs two separate apps or do two separate tasks on each of the display i.e you can be watching a video on one screen and playing a game on the other, simultaneously; Extended Mode combines both screens and lets you use the whole screen as one, giving you a larger area to work on; Mirror Mode mirrors what you are on doing on one screen to the other, while Traditional Mode is the norm when not multitasking and the phone is folded.

Each screen features a 5.2-inch full-HD (1080p) display both protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 5. When unfolded and flat out, this gives users a total viewing area of 6.75-inch to play with. The Axon M is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 Mobile Platform with Adreno 530 GPU, coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage. It has a single 20MP camera, which is equipped at the top of one of the screens with a single LED flash sitting besides it.

The phone runs Android 7.1.2 Nougat OS and offers Bluetooth, WiFi, 4G LTE, 3G, 2G, and GPS as connectivity options. It is backed by a 3180mAh battery.

The Axon M is exclusive to AT&T in the U.Ⓢ. It will be available from November for an outright fee of $725 or $24.17 on 30 monthly installments.
