Huawei Honor 5A Officially Launched: 5.5″ display, 8MP front camera and more

Huawei during the weekend launched its latest smartphone in Honor series in China named Honor 5A, an upgraded version and successor of Honor 4A released by the company in July last year. It features a 5.5-inch IPS display with HD (1280×720) resolution, protected by tempered glass. The display has 1000:1 contrast ratio and 178-degree wide-angle view. Diving in, the phone is powered by a 64-bit 1.5GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 processor or 64-bit 1.2 octa-core Kirin 650 processor depending on market, clubbed with Adreno 405 GPU or Mali 450 gpu, and 2GB of RAM.

It includes a 16GB of built-in storage that can be expanded up to 128GB via MicroSD card. The Honor 5A runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box topped with EMUI 4.1, and it also supports dual SIM with dual standby. In photography, it sports a 13-megapixel camera at the rear with f/2.0 aperture, 28mm wide-angle lens and LED flash, and a secondary 8-megapixel camera at the front which also boasts f/2.0 aperture and 27mm wide-angle lens.

Connectivity options included are 4G LTE + VoLTE, 3G HSPA+, Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi, GPS/A-GPS and Micro-USB. It is backed by a 3100mAh/3000mAh battery.

The Huawei Honor 5A is priced at CNY 799 ($121 USD) for China Unicom, China Telecom and other network carrier in China, while the standard version for international markets is priced at CNY 699 ($102 USD). It is available for pre-orders in White, Black, Gold and Blue colours via e-commerce site Vmall, and will start shipping from 17th of June. No details regarding global rollout.
