Meet Vernee Apollo: World’s Second Smartphone with 6GB of RAM

Vivo earlier this month launched XPlay5, world’s first smartphone to pack 6GB of RAM. Two weeks after (16 days to be precise), another company based in China has introduced a new flagship which is here to compete head-to-head with Vivo recent release. Vernee, a not-so-popular Chinese phone maker on Wednesday announced Apollo, its latest smartphone at MediaTek event in China, also claiming 6GB of RAM. Though the firm is yet to reveal its pricing, specs of the device was made known.

According to what Vernee revealed, the Apollo features a 5.5-inch display with Quad-HD (2560×1440 pixels) resolution, further enhanced with Force Touch technology, which enables users to activate certain functions depending on pressure apply when tapping the screen. Sitting on the inside is a 64-bit octa-core MediaTek Helio X20 (MT6797) processor, coupled with 850MHz Mali-T880 MP4 GPU and 128GB of built-in storage.

The Vernee Apollo runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box, it sports a fingerprint sensor at the back for smart security and authentication. In photography, the smartphone sports a 21-megapixel with Sony IMX230 sensor at the rear, accompanied with twin-tone LED flash, and a secondary 8-megapixel camera at the front. Connectivity options onboard includes 4G LTE, Wifi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.1, 3G, 2G, GPS/A-GPS, and USB Type-C. Its battery details is not mentioned.

The Vernee Apollo will be available in Silver colour when it start sailing sometime in April. As usual, availability outside China is uncertain.
