Samsung has silently launched 2016 edition of its Galaxy J1 entry-level smartphone in Dubai, a new variant of Galaxy J1 released in January last year. It is priced at AED 499, which translates to roughly $136 USD and #27,100 NGN. No word on availability.
The Galaxy J1 2016 features a slightly larger 4.5-inch WVGA (800 x 480 pixels) Super AMOLED display when compares with 4.3-inch WVGA IPS display on previous model. It is powered by a quad-core Exynos 3475 processor with a clock speed of 1.3GHz, coupled with 1GB of RAM and Mali-T720 GPU. There is an 8GB of storage inside with external storage support via MicroSD card (up to 32GB).

The Galaxy J1 2016 runs Android 5.1 Lollipop out-of-the-box. This can also be consider as an upgrade from Android 4.4 KitKat that governs software activities in previous model. A 5-megapixel autofocus camera is equipped at the rear accompanied with a LED flash, while it harbours a 2-megapixel camera at the front. Connectivity options included are 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.1, Wifi, 3G, 2G, GPS, FM radio and Micro-USB. It is backed by a 2,050mAh battery.
The device will be available in White, Gold and Black colors when it go on sale.
