Xiaomi Redmi 3 with Snapdragon Chipset, 4100mAh Battery Announced

Xiaomi has officially announced Redmi 3, its latest smartphone in Redmi series in China as expected today. The device is priced at CNY 699 ($107 USD) and will be available starting from January 12 in China. Availability for international market is yet to be disclose.

The Xiaomi Redmi 3 is wrapped in a full metal body that measures 139.3 x 69.6 x 8.5mm and weight 144 grams. It features a 5-inch IPS display with a HD resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. Diving in, it is powered by a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 processor with a clock speed of 1.5GHz, paired with 2GB of RAM and Adreno 405 GPU. There is a 16GB of built-in storage onboard that can be further expanded up to 128GB via MicroSD card.

The Redmi 3 runs Android Lollipop out-of-the-box topped with MIUI 7, and has hybrid dual SIM slots that enables second SIM slot to be use as MicroSD card slot. It sports a 13-megapixel camera at the back with f/2.0 aperture, Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF) and LED flash, capable of recording video in full-HD (1080p), while a 5-megapixel with f/2.2 aperture sits at the front. Connectivity options included are Bluetooth 4.1, Wifi, 4G LTE, 3G HSPA+, 2G, GPS/A-GPS, and GLONASS. It is backed by a 4000mAh/4100mAh battery.

The Xiaomi Redmi 3 is painted in Dark Grey, Silver, Gold and Classic Gold colors.
The company in November last year launched Redmi Note 3 in China.
