Although it runs Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear 2100 chipset that is specifically made for wearables, nubia said the watch should be able to perform tasks efficiently. Paired with the processor are 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage. It runs a custom Android operating system.

The nubia Alpha also sports a 5MP (f/2.2) front-facing camera with 82-degree wide-angle lens. Built-in speaker let users listen to music and voice call, and there is a microphone onboard for voice recording and other communications.

The watch phone can be used to track various activities including run, walk, and sleep, and it also has a heart rate sensor for heart rate monitoring. 4G, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi are the only connectivity onboard (apart from the pin connector for charging). It is powered by a 500mAh battery, rated to deliver up to 2 days of usage time and a week of standby time.

The nubia Alpha black version is priced at CNY 3499 (US$520), while the stainless steel version with 18K gold costs CNY 4499 (US$669). Those who order before the sales day get free nubia pods true wireless earbuds.
