The reverse fixture was a highly anticipated one that ended as a goalless draw despite a brilliant display by both teams. Since that last meet, there has been a dramatic dip in form in both teams, that has even led to the sack of Frank Lampard as Chelsea manager.

The both London teams have already met twice this season, with the both game panning out as 1-1 and 0-0 draws in the Carabao Cup and Premier League respectively.

Chelsea are unbeaten in their last four Premier League meetings with Spurs (W3 D1), keeping a clean sheet in three of these games.

The Blues have also kept a clean sheet in Thomas Tuchel’s first two games in charge and would be looking on keeping a third clean sheet in his first three premier league games in charge.

Ironically, the last Chelsea manager to do so in his first three games in the competition was José Mourinho in August 2004.

Although, Tuchel and Jose Mourinho have never faced each other before, but Thomas Tuchel had faced Tottenham in European matches before becoming Chelsea manager.

Tuchel won both of his Europa League matches against Spurs in March 2016 as Borussia Dortmund manager, winning both legs of the last 16 of that season’s tournament.

Jose Mourinho has also had quite a hardtime against Chelsea. Tottenham manager José Mourinho hasn’t won any of his last six meetings with Chelsea in all competitions (D3 L3). Only against Barcelona (7 between April 2011-January 2012) has he had a longer winless run against an opponent in his managerial career.

Also, Despite Tottenham being the only side still unbeaten in Premier League London derbies this season, Spurs have won just one of their five such matches so far this term (D4).

But then, Tottenham Hotspur lost their last home Premier League game versus Liverpool (1-3) – they haven’t lost consecutive home games since January 2019, while manager José Mourinho has never lost consecutive home games in the competition.

But with Harry Kane injured, it is usually difficult for this Spurs team. Tottenham have won just three of their last 13 Premier League games in which Harry Kane has not featured (D4 L6), including none of their last four (D1 L3). Indeed, one of those last four winless matches without Kane was against Chelsea, a 1-2 defeat in February 2020.

Though the stats are in favour of Chelsea, but don’t forget that this is Thomas Tuchel, who is quite a newbie in the Premier League against Premier League veteran, José Mourinho.
