Karbonn has introduced an entry-level device in India called K9 Kavach 4G. At an event held earlier today in the said region, the firm disclosed that the new smartphone comes with UPI-based payment processor which is wired to BHIM app pre-installed on the phone.
This enable users to carry out transactions right within the app without using third-party services. The firm further revealed that the UPI is implemented on a firmware scale for maximum security. For advance payment authentication, the K9 Kavach 4G sports a rear-placed fingerprint sensor for biometric identification.

Moving on, in terms of specifications, the smartphone features a 5-inch capacitive touch display with HD (1280×720) resolution and a pixel density of 294ppi. It is powered by an unspecified 1.25GHz quad-core processor, paired with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage, which can be expanded up to 32GB via MicroSD card.
The Karbonn K9 Kavach 4G runs Android 7.0 Nougat, it has dedicated dual SIM slots with dual standby. At the rear is a 5-megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash, while it sports a 5-megapixel camera at the front. Connectivity options included are 4G VoLTE, WiFi, Bluetooth, 3G, 2G, GPS, FM radio and Micro-USB. It is fuelled by a 2300mAh removable Li-ion battery.
The phone will be available at offline retail stores across India in coming days for Rs 5,290 ($79).
