This is the first time that Brentford have reached this stage of the competition, making them the 59th team to reach the semi final of the EFL Carabao Cup.

Brentford who are currently 4th in the championship have never won an away match against Spurs in seven attempts (D2 L5). Their last win over Spurs was in March 1948 in a league match at Griffin Park.

Though, almost all stats seem to favour Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham side, one would be advised not to write off Brentford.

Brentford have already eliminated four Premier League teams in this season’s League Cup, only the second non-Premier League side to do so in a season, after Bristol City in 2017-18 who were eventually beaten in the semi-final by Man City.

Brentford have won four of their last five match, scoring in all of them with the only dropped points, a 1-1 draw against Watford.

As a matter of fact, Brentford are now unbeaten in their last 15 games (8 wins, 7 draws) – the longest unbeaten run in since Fulham’s run of 23 games in 2017-18 promotion season.

Brentford are a free scoring counter attacking side and will not fail to punish Tottenham, but Jose Mourinho is also skilled in the art of counter attack with Son Heung-Min and Harry Kane evolving into goal machines.

Its a very tricky one, but a sure win for Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham is advised, or both teams score. But the best bet would be over 1.5 goals with goals promised in this match.
