Step 1
Two choices:
Applying via entering Finland e-service
Fill in your residence permit application via entering Finland. You’ll get a user account created together with your e-mail address on entering Finland. The account is for private use only. Keep your e-mail address and password safe so you’ll log into the service later.

Send your supplementary documents via entering Finland. The documents you attach to your online application need to be in an electronic format. Confirm you’ve attached all the specified documents. Print Certificate of a pending online case. You would need to supply the certificate print-out when visiting the application Centre.
When you have submitted your application via entering Finland, you have to go to the Application Centre to prove your identity, present the first copies of the attachments required for your application, and have your fingerprints taken.
Applying to the Application Centre
Select the acceptable residence permit category on website of The Finnish Immigration Service
You will find the right form within the end of the chosen residence permit category site. Print the application form.
Fill the form properly.
Step 2
Book a meeting to go to Application Centre:
If you do not have an identification document, you ought to visit the Embassy of Finland in Nigeria to submit your identification information.
Step 3
Visit the application Centre:
Documents for legalization have to be prepared before submission at the application Centre.
Once documents are legalized, submit your residence permit form alongside required supplementary documents.
You should submit your application face to face at the Application Centre.
An application on behalf of an underage child will get to be filled in and submitted by the child’s trustee. The child must be present when the application is submitted.
Step 4
Pay processing fee:
A processing fee is charged at Application Centre for submitting the residence permit and also for extra services (for example legalization). This fee won’t be refunded.
Step 5
Submit biometric data:
After submitting the residence permit application you’re asked to proceed to a biometrics booth where your fingerprints, a digital photo, and electronic signature are going to be collected.
Step 6
Application Centre officer makes a meeting for the interview meanwhile you’re submitting your application. All applicants are going to be interviewed. Confirm you have a meeting for the interview before leaving the application Centre.
Step 7
Your application is going to be transferred to the processing queue at the Finnish Immigration Service who will make the final choice.
