GM 5: First Android One Smartphone with Android 7.0 Nougat Announced

General Mobile, the Turkish-based phone maker has again partnered with Google to launch a new smartphone called GM 5, the company’s second Android One smartphone and world’s first Android One device to runs Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box. It is also the first entry-level smartphone to runs Android latest version.

In terms of specifications, the GM 5 features a 5-inch IPS capacitive touch display with HD (1280×720) resolution, protected on the surface by Corning Gorilla Glass 4. It is powered by a 64-bit quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 chipset clocked at 1.2GHz, clubbed with 2GB of RAM and Adreno 306 GPU. It includes a 16GB of inbuilt storage, which can be further expanded up to 64GB via MicroSD card.

The new General Mobile smartphone sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with twin-tone LED flash, capable of recording 1080p videos, while it bears a 5-megapixel camera at the front. Connectivity options included are Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi, 4G LTE, 3G, 2G, GPS, Micro-USB, and FM radio. It measures 140.5 x 69.75 x 9.3mm, weigh 160 grams and is fuelled by a 2500mAh battery.

The GM 5 will be available in single SIM and dual SIM variants when it go on sale in multiple regions including Ghana, Turkey, Belgium, Croatia, Kenya, Netherland, Greece in coming weeks. Pricing details is not revealed.
