Who Rules the Kingdom of Gaming?

Gaming is far from monopolized, regardless of the fact that hardware and software developers are often bought by or merged with major corporations such as Sony, Microsoft, or Nintendo. The industry works in a way that allows every game company to contribute by marketing the products they have to offer. There are more than 50 major gaming companies, launching games and, sometimes, even gaming accessories that are sold all over the world. In the list of companies, one can find names such as Ubisoft, Activision, Electronic Arts and Bungie. The big 50 are responsible for games like Assassin’s Creed, Zelda, Elder Ring, Star Wars: Fallen Order, FIFA and Call of Duty.

Apart from the 50 companies, which mostly focus on traditional video games, there are also gaming companies that are responsible for online games one can find in other gaming environments. For example, Blueprint Gaming and other similar developers create games, which players can find in popular casino websites. If though they are not mentioned among the big 50, these gaming companies employ hundreds of professionals and they contribute in gaming just as much as the companies mentioned above.

From Big Dreams to Big Realizations

Most gaming studios started small and with extremely limited budgets, but with the industry continuously blooming, these studios have turned into billion-dollar companies. Groups of friends who once wrote code while living in their parents’ house are now seeing their triple-A games sell millions of copies and earn one award after another. Their creations spawn gaming sequels, franchises, movies and television features. A few examples are Resident Evil, Tomb Raider, The Witcher and more recently The Last of Us.

Television Makes Players Curious about Older Games

HBO’s The Last of Us may be the most recent addition in this entertainment crossover, but it is the story that has had the biggest impact than any other story before it. After watching the series, many viewers started buying copies of the game in order to experience the original story, which was released ten years ago. Among them, there are also some who have let their creativity do wonders. One example is a fan who created their own video game version of The Last of Us series. This game is not going to win any awards for its graphics and gameplay, but it is just an example of how gaming can inspire people to do wonders.
