The Taiwanese mobile tech giant HTC has added a new budget Android smartphone to its Desire series, the Desire 616. The smartphone was launched in Singapore at a price of SGD 298 (approx $239) and was also reported to be launched in China, it is currently listed on the company’s Hong Kong website. According to the company, the HTC Desire 616 will only be available in Asia for now, and that there is currently no plan of making it available in other countries outside Asia.
The Desire 616 features a 5-inch display with a screen resolution of 720×1280 pixels, the version of Android it runs is not known. It offers dual SIM functionality and sports an 8-megapixel rear autofocus camera and there is a 2-megapixel front camera onboard. The rear camera is capable of recording full HD (1080p) videos.
The HTC Desire 616 is powered by a 1.4GHz octa-core processor of unknown chipset, coupled with 1GB of RAM. It comes with 4GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via MicroSD card. Connectivity options include WiFi with Hotspot, Bluetooth v4.0, GPS and 3G. It is backed by a 2000mAh battery.
