The Israeli military has been on high alert for a possible attack from Hezbollah since the assassination of a senior Hezbollah commander in Syria in July. The assassination was blamed on Israel, and Hezbollah has vowed to retaliate.

The airspace violation comes amid heightened tensions between Israel and Lebanon. In recent weeks, there have been several exchanges of fire between the two sides along the border.

The situation in the region is highly volatile, and there is a risk that a small incident could escalate into a larger conflict.
