BQ, the Chinese firm that launched the world’s first Ubuntu smartphone has added a new flagship to its line-up, the Aquaris E5 HD Ubuntu Edition. The phone will first hit european market via the firm online store with a price tag of €199 ($221 USD, #44,000 NGN) in coming days.
The Aquaris E5 HD Ubuntu Edition is an upgraded variant and successor of Aquaris E4.5 Ubuntu Edition that was launched in February. Also, it is the world’s third Ubuntu smartphone, the Meizu MX4 Ubuntu Edition took the second place last month.

As its name suggest, the smartphone features a 5-inch HD (720*1280 pixel) IPS display and runs Ubuntu OS out-of-the-box. It is driven by a quad-core MediaTek processor with a clock speed of 1.3GHz slammed with 1GB of RAM. The Aquaris E5 HD Ubuntu Edition houses a 13-megapixel autofocus camera at the rear and 5-megapixel camera at front.
It includes a 16GB of built-in storage with external storage support and offers Wifi, Bluetooth, 3G, 2G, and GPS as connectivity options. The device backed by a 2500mAh battery.
