Misfit, the U.S based watch maker operating under the umbrella of Fossil Group has launched its latest smartwatch called Vapor X in the U.S. The wearable is made to cater to those who thirst to have something more intelligible on their wrist without compromise on fashion. Misfit said it is one of the lightest smartwatch it has ever released. Made of lightweight matte-finished aluminum alloy, the device weigh just 43 grams. The whole system runs on Google’s Wear OS.
The Vapor X has a circular 1.19-inch AMOLED display that has 328 pixels per inch. It comes pre-installed with customized watch faces, but the Wear OS it runs offer even more watch faces that users can download and install from the app store. Different straps (available separately) are provided to compliment the Black, Champagne, Stainless, Rose Tone, and Gunmetal colors offered with the watch, including Black leather strap and Silver stainless steel strap. Moreover, it can be fitted with any 20mm interchangeable straps or bracelets.

The watch is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 3100 platform, paired with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of storage. What makes it “smart” apart from its digital display and the Wear OS it runs are the addition of heart rate sensor for heart rate monitoring, and the inclusion of an inbuilt GPS for indoor and outdoor tracking and positioning. But that’s not all. The Wear OS also brings Google Assistant to the wrist.
The Vapor X is water resistant up to 30 meters and can be used when bathing or light swimming. It can be paired with smartphones running Android 4.4+ or iOS 10+ via Bluetooth or WiFi. There is also NFC onboard with supports for Google Pay. When paired, users can view text notifications and be aware of incoming calls on their wrists. It also cater to multimedia needs, thanks to its built-in speaker and mic, which let users listen to music offline even when not paired with a smartphone.
Apart from the heart rate sensor, altimeter, gyroscope, and accelerometer sensors are present. It is fuelled by a 300mAh battery that can last for more than a day in a single charge. Misfit claimed it can last more when battery saving mode is enabled. Charging is done using a magnetic pin charger.
The Vapor X is already on sale on Misfit website at an introductory price of US$199.99 for a limited time period, after which it will be sold for US$279.99.
