Match Venue: St. James Park
Newcastle who have been winless in their last five matches in all competitions welcome Leeds United who have failed to win any match since the turn of the new year, with their last victory a 5 – 0 win against West Brom on 29th December, 2020.
Steve Bruce would hope his Newcastle side are up for the task to grab a first win in the sixth trial in all competitions.
Apart from the fact that Newcastle are losing, a more worry fact is that the Magpies have scored only one goal in their past five matches in all competitions, despite conceding ten goals.
Newcastle sit on 16th position, with their only confidence being that Fulham who sit on the last relegation position of 18th are 5 points behind and are also struggling in their games.
But if things don’t change and there be an upturn of fortunes of those behind them, it could see Steve Bruce’s men dragged into the relegation fight.
Leeds on the other hand are managed by revered tactician, Marcelo Biesla. The Argentine coach have seen his team dropped to 12th position after series of poor results, despite a high flying start to the season.
The team however have scored 6 goals and conceded 7 goals, which culminated in 2 wins and 3 losses in their past 5 games. Though 5 of the 6 goals came in the 5 – 0
away victory against West Brom.
This could be a match with a lot of misfired shots, with Newcastle scoring their last goal on 3rd January, 2021 in a 1-2 home loss to Leicester City while Leeds had their last goal in a 1-0 home victory against Brighton.
It promises to be a hard fought match, and don’t be surprised when the goals might decide to come in. But the best bet would be a win for Marcelo Biesla’s Leeds United side.
But then, it could also be a goal less draw, but a safe bet would be under 2.5 goals. But a daring bet would be a goal less draw.
