Omah Lay bagged his secondary school leaving certificate at the Comprehensive High School, Rivers State, before going to study his tertiary education at the University of Port Harcourt.

Omah Lay’s grandfather was a percussionist to the then-popular Igbo highlife singer, Celestine Ukwu. While his father was as well, a popular drummer in the Igboland.

Omah Lay in an interview with NotJustOk, made it known that he had started chasing his music career right from a very young age of 16.

Omah Lay debuted his first studio single song in April 2019, which was titled “Do Not Disturb”.

The song he said, was a way of expressing his feelings towards the action of the singers who use songwriters and refuse to give them credits for their work.

Proceeding that, Omah Lay laid away from music for about seven months before coming back with a secured recording deal with the KeyQaad record label.

Just a few days later, Omah Lay debuted his second studio single and first song under the KeyQaad record label. The song was titled “Bad Influence” and was produced by Omah Lay himself.

Omah Lay’s first studio debut album, “Get Layd” was released in May 2020 and the album consisted 5 tracks namely;

4. Bad Influence.
5. Ye Ye Ye.

The album within a very short period after its release has managed to top several charts; including the Apple Music Chart, MTV Base Top Chart, and many others.
