The just-concluded BBNaija Season 5 Lockdown recorded over 900million votes across all voting platforms. This figure is said to be the highest ever in the history of Big Brother Naija.
The Managing Director of MultiChoice, parent production company of the Big Brother Franchise, John Ugbe, made this known at a media briefing and presentation of prize money to the season’s winner, Laycon in Lagos today.

He said that the show recorded 900million votes(inclusive of online voting) from the different voting platforms. He also revealed that the cost of producing the show was 3.5 Billion Naira.
Also during the prize presentation ceremony today, BetWay, sponsors of this season, awarded Ozor and Laycon 2.5 Million Naira each for winning the BetWay task on sports development. Also awarded were Laycon and Dorathy. They won an all-expense-paid trip to Ireland, Dublin, courtesy of Guinness Nigeria.
You will recall that the 26-year-old rapper won this year’s edition of the Big Brother Nigeria (BBNaija) reality TV show after polling the highest votes of the five housemates that made the grand finale.
Laycon’s N85 million worth of prizes include N30 million cash prize; a two-bedroom apartment; a top of the range SUV; a trip to Dublin; home appliances, another trip to Dubai; a trip to watch the UEFA Champions League finale; and many other gifts from sponsors of the reality show.
