Xiaomi has officially launched its long-awaited flagship smartphones, Redmi Note 2 and Redmi Note 2 Prime. We aren’t expecting the second but we appreciate the suprise. The Redmi Note 2 comes in 3G-only version and 4G version with CN¥ 799 ($127 USD) and CN¥ 899 ($143) price tag respectively, while Redmi Note 2 Prime cost CN¥ 999 ($159 USD). The smartphones will be available in China starting this week, however, global availability is not mentioned.
The 3G version and 4G LTE version of Redmi Note 2 sports identical specifications internally and externally besides the difference in their network band. It features a 5.5-inch IPS display with full-HD resolution of 1080×1920 pixels and runs Android 5.0 Lollipop based on MIUI 7.0 out-of-the-box. The device is powered by a 64-bit octa-core MediaTek Helio X10 (2GHz 4-core Cortex A53 + 2GHz 4-core Cortex A53) processor slammed with 2GB of RAM.

The Redmi Note 2 houses a 13-megapixel camera with phrase detection autofocus, f/2.2 aperture, 5-element lens and LED flash which is capable of recording full-HD (1080p) video, while it bears a 5-megapixel camera with OmniVision sensor at the front. It comes in two storage variants, 16GB and 32GB, with external storage support. Besides the 4G LTE, the Redmi Note 2 also offers Bluetooth 4.1, Wifi, 3G HSPA+, GPRS/EDGE, GPS/A-GPS, and Micro-USB as connectivity options. A 3,060mAh battery turn on the device with quick charging support.
On the other hand, the Redmi Note 2 Prime specifications is also identical Redmi Note, the display, battery capacity, front and back camera, and connectivity options are the same. The difference that seperate Redmi Note 2 Prime from Redmi Note 2 is its processor clock speed. it’s only available in 32GB storage version too. The device packs a 64-bit octa-core MediaTek Helio X10 processor but it is clocked at 2.2GHz (2.2GHz 4-core Cortex A53 + 2.2GHz 4-core Cortex A53).
