If you’ve been surfing and enjoying MTN Blackberry Subscription plan on your PC before with Simple Server you would have notice it no longer work. Its access has been blocked last week, however, we have a good news for MTN and Etisalat users in Nigeria.
You can still enjoy and surf the net freely with MTN and Etisalat BIS subscription with XT181. It’s fully working (we hope it last) and it is easy to configure – works pretty much like Simple Server. If you are already familiar with Simple Server then you won’t have problem configuring it.

To get started, first download XT181.zip to your PC and extract its content to desktop.
Follow the steps below.
Subscribe for MTN Blackberry subscription by sending BBCDay to 21600 for daily plan, or BBCWeek to 21600 for weekly plan (all plans carries 3GB Data Bundle).
Configure your Browser with the follow settings (Internet Explorer, Mozilla, Chrome e.t.c)
- Go to Settings -> Tools -> Options -> Advance and select “Manual Configuration” (in some browsers it may be Preferences)
- Insert 127.0.0.1 into proxy box and 8080 into port box
- Tick Use As Default (depends on browser)
- And save
Now, insert your subscribed MTN SIM card into your modem and connect it to a PC. Create a new profile, use blackberry.net as APN and save (leave username and password empty) but don’t connect yet.
Go to desktop, open the extracted XT181 folder and double-click on the app to launch. In the main interface click on “LISTEN” and minimize. Connect your modem and surf freely. Same procedures apply for Etisalat BIS.
Note: we suggest you first try MTN BIS daily plan (cost only #100) to know if it will work for you before applying for bigger plans.
