Sony has introduced a new smart wireless earphone, Xperia Ear, at the ongoing MWC event in Barcelona. The device offers voice command functionality to get certain tasks done such as navigating to a certain location, dictating a message, make a call, perform a search on the internet e.t.c using Sony Voice technology – much like a virtual assistant.
It use NFC and Bluetooth connectivity to connect to a smartphone, and can be customize to trigger certain functions and to operate certain apps with just voice such as the play, pause, and skip music in an Audio Player. The Sony Xperia Ear offer lots of personalizations, including reading of received notifications such as missed calls, text messages, calender, and alarm in real time. It earns IPX2 rating for water protection. This ensures adequate protection against sweat and rain.
The Sony Xperia Ear can renders up to 3.5 hours of use in a single charge, and can provide up to 12 hours of use when in its case, which doubles up as a charger. It will be available in Graphite Black color option. No word on its pricing and availability yet.
