Sony To Start Rolling Out Android 5.1 Lollipop For All Xperia Z Devices

Sony has announced its plan for Xperia Z and other Xperia series today as the firm declares that Android 5.1 Lollipop update will begin to rollout for devices in coming weeks. The statement was made on the company page though we spotted it on their twitter timeline.

Xperia series that will be receiving the update are Xperia Z, Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia ZL, Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1 Compact, Xperia Z2, Xperia Z2 Tablet, Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact, and Xperia Z3 Tablet. The firm are not limiting Android 5.1 update to Xperia Z series alone this time, they have further expanded it to Xperia M2, Xperia M2 Aqua which are launched more than a year ago. Xperia C3 and Xperia T2 Ultra are included as well.

Going back in time, Sony released Android 5.0 Lollipop update for this devices in April and here they are with Android 5.1 update. When it comes to best support, this firm really worth a medal. We wish others could follow their footstep including Mr Sammy.

As schedule, Xperia Z series will first receive the update follow by others, it may take more than a month for it to rollout to all devices depending on region and network carriers. The update will start rolling out in July. Users will need to enable auto update on their device or manually check by going to Settings -> About Phone.
