Alleged metallic chassis appeared in image leak
barely a month after Sony’s flagship Xperia Z2 smartphone landed in stores, a new leak suggests the company could have a new model out as soon as August.
The proposed date appeared alongside an image that apparently shows the metal frame of the Xperia Z3, which is reported to be treated with a resistive coating to make it stronger and more scratch proof than the Xperia Z2.
An August reveal of the Xperia Z3 would come six months after the Sony Xperia Z2, which was first revealed back at Mobile World Congress in February.
Alleged specs for the phone includes a 5.5-inch 4K display and it’ll be powered by an improved 2.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor with 3GB of RAM, while another leaked shows that the Xperia Z3 will be powered by a 2.5GHz octa-core processor with 6GB of RAM for better gaming.
The screen would keep the standard 1080p Full HD display while the rear-facing camera could be the same 20.7MP shooter from the Xperia Z2, the phone will be running Android 4.4 KitKat. Interestingly, both the forthcoming LG G3 and the rumored Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime will be packing a qHD screen resolution, which could see the Z3 bested if it does arrive with only a 1080p resolution.
Another possibility is that the Japanese company is planning this new handset as a souped-up version of the Z2 – similar to the rumored Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime update to the Galaxy S5
