Tecno Camon CX, Camon CX Air with Android 7.0 Nougat, LTE Announced

Camon CX

Tecno Mobile ceremoniously announced two new smartphones at a special event held in Nairobi Kenya on Thursday, the Camon CX and Camon CX Air. Both device are the latest camera-focus smartphones in the “Camon” family, which is the company blood-birth when it comes to photography. Like their ancestors, the major highlight of these device is their equipped cameras.

The Camon CX which is the older of the two in terms of specifications sports dual 16-megapixel cameras with f/2.0 aperture, the first equipped at the rear with ring flash, while the second which is meant for taking selfie sits at the front with twin-LED flash placed besides it. The rear camera is HDR and Panorama enabled and both are capable of recording full-HD (1080p) video.

Camon CX Air

The Camon CX Air on the other hand, packs dual 13-megapixel cameras, the first sitting at the back with dual LED flash and the other at the front accompanied with dual LED flash as well. Besides the difference in their cameras, the Camon CX and Camon CX Air also differs in many other aspects. Although both features 5.5-inch display, the first offers full-HD (1920×1080) resolution while the later comes with HD (1280×720).

The differences extended to their processors with the first claiming a 1.5GHz octa-core processor (probably MediaTek MT6753) while the later is powered by a 1.25GHz quad-core processor (probably MediaTek MT6737), both clubbed with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage.

Notably, the new Tecno smartphones runs Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box with the company’s proprietary HiOS layed on top. They also supports 4G LTE via dual SIM slots included. For smart security and biometric authentication, fingerprint scanners are pinned to the back of both device. Connectivity options included are Bluetooth 4.1, WiFi, 3G, GPRS/EDGE, GPS, and FM radio. The phones are backed by a 3,200mAh battery.

The Camon CX comes in Gold, Rose Gold, Grey and Purple colors while the CX Air comes in Purple color only. Both will be available in Nigeria, Ghana, Tanzania, Kenya, Egypt, and other Africa markets in coming weeks. No words on pricing yet.
