The UK network carrier EE, has announced a new low-cost smartphone for users on their platform named The Rook. The phone is available for new customers at £49 ($76 USD) and existing customers at £39 ($60 USD).
Notably, despite its cheap pricing, The Rook support 4G. It features a 4-inch WVGA (800 x 480 pixel) IPS display flaunting a pixel density of 233ppi. The smartphone support only one SIM and runs Android 5.1 Lollipop OS out-of-the-box.

Under the hood, it is driven by a quad-core MediaTek processor with clock speed of 1.0GHz coupled with 1GB of RAM. It includes an 8GB of built-in storage which can be expanded via MicroSD card (up to 32GB).
The EE Rook houses a 5-megapixel camera at the rear without LED flash while it harbours a VGA camera at the front for video chatting. On the connectivity front, the smartphone support Bluetooth, Wifi, 3G, 2G, aGPS, and Micro-USB. It is backed by a 1500mAh battery.
