She spent her childhood and youthful age in Ikeja, Lagos State completing her basic education at the Maryland Comprehensive Secondary School.
Upon completion of her secondary education, Mercy Aigbe attended the popularly known, Polytechnic of Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria. After four years of study in the tertiary institution, she became a National Diploma holder in Financial Studies.
In 1997, she enrolled in the University of Lagos to further her education and after completing all her semesters and projects, she bagged a Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre Arts.

During her days in the Polytechnic, she had started auditioning for acting jobs and has been lucky to have been featured in some movies then although within short scenes.
Mercy Aigbe fully embarked on her acting career after graduating from her first tertiary institution and lack of enough standings professionally was what made her decide to go back to the university to study the career she has always been in love with.
