Spanish La Liga leaders welcome 11th placed Celta Vigo to the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano today by 9pm for a clash that will be keenly watched by two La Liga heavyweights Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Atletico Madrid lead the Spanish league by 7 points despite having played two games fewer than their rivals.
Diego Simeone would be hoping his team extends the point difference to 10 points by claiming victory tonight.

At home, Atlético de Madrid are unbeaten in their last eight LaLiga games against Celta de Vigo (W6 D2), keeping clean sheets in the last three.
Also, Atlético de Madrid have won their last eight LaLiga matches, they last had nine consecutive victories in a row in the competition in April 2014 (9) – which was the season they won the title last.
Much of the spotlight from Celta Vigo’s defenders would be on former Barcelona player, Luis Suarez, who is currently the league’s highest goal scorer.
Luis Suárez is the top scorer in LaLiga in 2020-21 (14 goals), he averages the fewest minutes per goal (one goal every 85 minutes) among players to have scored at least two goals this season.
Celta Vigo, on the other hand, are winless in their last 16 visits to teams from Madrid in LaLiga (D5 L11) although they have drawn five of the last seven (L2), since a 2-0 win against Leganés in January 2017.

It is also worthy to note that Celta de Vigo’s Manuel Agudo “Nolito” has scored four goals against Atlético de Madrid in LaLiga (eight games), more than against any other opponent in the competition.
A draw could be a really bold stake but with Atletico winning their last five matches in the Spanish La liga, a win for Diego Simeone’s side is the safe bet.
