Xiaomi earlier today announced Mi 4S, a new variant of it Mi 4 smartphone. But the company also launched Mi 5, an upgraded version and successor of Mi 4 at an event that took place in China. The phone comes in three variants, 3GB RAM with 32GB storage version, 3GB RAM with 64GB storage version, and 4GB RAM with 128GB storage version, priced at CN¥ 1999 ($306), CN¥ 2299 ($351) and CN¥ 2999 ($413) respectively. It will be available from first week of March in China. Roll out details for other markets is not mentioned.
The Xiaomi Mi 5 measure just 7.25mm at its thickest point. It has a 3D glass body and a glass back panel as well. As expected, the smartphone packs Qualcomm latest Snapdragon 820 chipset and runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box layed on top with MIUI 7. Fingerprint sensor located at the front enables users to lock and unlock the device without entering a passcode.
