Xiaomi today announced Mi 8 Lite and Mi 8 Pro in China, the firm’s latest addition to its Mi 8 smartphone series. The Mi 8 Lite, which can also be regarded as Mi 8 Youth Edition, features a 6.26-inch Full HD+ 19:9 display with a notch and is powered by a Snapdragon 660 processor, coupled with up to 6GB of RAM and up to 128GB of storage.
The phone has a glass back with gradient finish that accommodate the fingerprint sensor and the 12MP+5MP dual rear-facing camera. At the front is a 24MP front camera for selfie. As could be expected, the cameras comes with various AI enhancements including AI Portrait Shot and AI Beautify for pro-capture.

Although the Mi 8 Lite lacked a front LED flash, to further improve the selfie, Xiaomi has introduced a new feature by using the phone display as the selfie light, which according to the firm can light up in different colors depending on the ambient light of the room, providing the right color temperature that will illuminate the face.
The phone runs Android 8.1 Oreo with MIUI on top; has a hybrid dual SIM slot that enable users to use the secondary SIM slot as a MicroSD card slot, while it is fuelled by a 3350mAh battery.
The Mi 8 Pro on the other hand, featured the same specs as the standard Mi 8 Explorer, but this comes with an improved pressure-sensitive in-display fingerprint sensor. The firm claimed the new in-display fingerprint sensor solution is 23% faster than the one on the Mi 8/Explorer and is more power efficient.
The Mi 8 Pro also has a glass back with gradient finish just like the Mi 8 Lite. However, the battery has been downgraded from 3400mAh on the Mi 8 Explorer to 3000mAh.
