Qualcomm Announces Snapdragon 660 and 630 Mobile Processors

Qualcomm today made two new additions to its mid-end Snapdragon processor series under its mobile platform namely, Snapdragon 660 and Snapdragon 630. These are here to succeed Snapdragon 653 and Snapdragon 626 that made it out in Q4 last year.

Both based on 14nm FinFet process, the Snapdragon 660 which is the most powerful in the list is the first mid-end to boasts Kryo CPUs, the likes of which is found on high-end Snapdragon 8xx series, this promises up to 20-percent improved performance when compared with Snapdragon 653. It also comes with a much-improved Adreno 512 GPU that offers 30-percent performance increase when compared with Adreno 510.

The Snapdragon 630 on the other hand uses Cortex A53 CPUs like its predecessor but offers better performance and management efficiency. It is accompanied by an Adreno 508 GPU that promise 30-percent increase in graphics when compared with Adreno 506 that Snapdragon 626 boasts of.

Both chipsets are imbibed with X12 LTE Modem that can renders up to 600Mbps of download speed and up to 150Mbps of upload speed. These also supports Bluetooth 5; can accommodate up to 8GB of LPDDR4 RAM, supports 4K video recording @30fps and Qualcomm Quick Charge 4.0.

The Snapdragon 660 will be available for consumers starting this quarter and the Snapdragon 630 by third-quarter 2017.
