Rome, June 10, 2023 – Former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi was admitted to a hospital in Milan on Friday, his spokesman said. Berlusconi, 86, was admitted to the San Raffaele hospital for “scheduled examinations related to his known hematological pathology,” the spokesman said.

Berlusconi has been diagnosed with chronic myelomonocytic leukemia, a type of cancer that affects the white blood cells. He was first diagnosed with the disease in 2019.

In 2021 he was hospitalized for treatment for the symptoms of long Covid-19, according to the press office of his Forza Italia party.

He also spent time in the hospital the previous year after contracting the coronavirus, and has had a number of other health concerns, including a 2016 heart surgery to replace an aortic valve.
