Delta State has treated and discharged 1,303 cases out of the 1,464 confirmed cases. The Spokesman to the State Governor, Olisa Ifeajika made this known in a statement released to newsmen. He also revealed that that 41 patients in total died from the virus.
Mr. Ifeajika stated that the reason for this huge success is because the contact tracing and proper treatment have proven to be very effective which has helped in the drastic drop in cases in the state. Delta State has so far tested 6,234 patients for the virus and the Nigeria Centre for Disease and Control, NCDC confirmed 1,464 of this number. Mr.

Ifeajika said in order to make sure there’s less community transmission, the state government is making sure the rules and guidelines set aside to reduce the spread of the virus are enforced and rule-breakers sanctioned.
He said the reason for the increased number of tests carried out is because of the availability of two testing centers in the state. According to him, the increase in COVID-19 cases happened when the virus stated transmitting in communities.
On the state borders being open, Ifeajika said it was done according to the directives by the Federal Government lifting the ban on inter-state travels. He said some checkpoints available in the state are making sure people follow the laid down guidelines on avoiding the spread of the virus by wearing facemasks and observing social distancing.
Ifeajika went to say that opening of schools, bars, lounges, nightclubs won’t be possible even though the borders had been open for interstate travels and for reopening of schools, he noted that government authorities are still working hard to make sure they come up with the best way to handle the issue. He said although bars, lounges, night clubs are closed, eateries are allowed to operate but no sit in orders, all orders must be takeaway.
