Xiaomi has officially taken the wraps off its next-gen flagship smartphone, Mi Note 2, at an event organized by the company in Beijing earlier today. The new device is here to take on its predecessor, Mi Note, that was released in early 2015. Though the Mi Note 2 still inherits the 5.7-inch screen size and full-HD (1080p) resolution from its predecessor, Xiaomi has chosen to use OLED display panel which is considered one of the best and the rarest use display panel in mobile phone. As far as history goes, this is the second time Xiaomi will be using OLED display for its smartphone, the first time being on Redmi Pro that was released in July.
The company is also touting the phone robust design, especially its dual-edge curved display, which is made possible by 3D curved glass that encompasses the front. The Mi Note 2 body is entirely made of aluminium and sitting underneath this outer metal layer on the board inside is a powerful 2.35GHz quad-core Snapdragon 821 processor, accompanied with Adreno 530 GPU. It comes in three different variants, 4GB RAM with 64GB storage, 6GB RAM with 128GB storage, and 6GB RAM with 128GB storage tagged as Global Edition as it supports global LTE band (6 types, 37 bands). The phone also packs a fingerprint sensor beneath the home button and supports 24-bit 192kHz lossless audio.
