Google at its I/O 2016 conference in May unveiled Allo, a new messaging app alongside with Duo, today, the company has started rolling out the app globally for Android and iOS. The Allo is here to take on the world’s most popular messaging app “Whatsapp”. Unlike other Google products, users are given the option to sign up using their phone numbers only. For those who want to be more on the safe side, Google ID can also be used for signing up via an option presented at the welcome screen.
So, what does Allo have to offer? The first thing an user is likely to be drawn to when composing his/her first message are the colorful arts. Google filled Allo to the brim with different emojis and stickers to make conversation more of a fun and to make people “fully” able to express themselves without writing a word. In addition, Allo allow users to import picture from the gallery and even do some artwork by painting on it before it is sent.

Another notable feature is Google Assistant embedded into the app. This enable users to ask Google questions or search the web right within the app by just typing @google follow by the question at an input bar located at the top of Allo interface. You can even ask for weather forecast and search for local restaurant and movie theaters around.
With end-to-end encryption already in place for security, Google Allo also comes with incognito mode for additional privacy. When this option is turn on users can set message expiration and turn on discreet notifications. “Smart reply” let users respond to messages with just a tap of a button and it can even suggest responses for photos.
Google Allo for Android is available for download on Play Store. iOS is expected to follow.
