Xiaomi First Virtual Reality Headset: Mi VR Toy Edition Goes Official

Xiaomi has officially announced its first Virtual Reality (VR) headset in China dubbed Mi VR Toy Edition. As could be noticed from its naming (we mean the “Toy”), it is not here to compete with other high-end VR headsets out there like HTC Vive, Oculus Rift e.t.c, but it is definitely here to chase and if possible overtake Google Cardboard and others alike. It has a sturdier look, and the innovation is quite fascinating.

The Mi VR will readily accept smartphones with screen-size between 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch, thanks to its zip design, which will make sure the phone stay in place comfortably when ready for action. The headset is made of Lycra fabric (a combination of Nylon and Spandex) and EVA— soft, light and skin-friendly. A pair of anti-glare aspherical lenses included let a wearer behold the scene in details with maximum clarity. Also, a separate app is made available that will give users the ability to enable certain features such as Paranomic Video when using the VR.

The Mi VR Toy Edition will be available in different colorful designs. As of now, Xiaomi has not reveal its pricing, but the device is listed on XiaomiDevice at US$29.99, though the suggested price currently circulating online is CNY 49 (US$7). No details regarding availability either.
