OPPO partnered with Amazon India to laid down a new brand in India few weeks ago called Realme. Today, the company has launched its first smartphone under the new brand dubbed Realme 1. The mid-sized device has all the bells and whistles of what we considered modern in this era of smartphone without taking toll on the price.
It has a smooth reflective diamond-cut back that shimmers different shades of black when light rays fall on it, measuring 7.8mm at its thinnest point, while the overall body weight falls below 160 grams (158 grams to be precise). At the front is a 6-inch IPS capacitive touchscreen with Full HD+ (2160p) resolution that makes the screen taller at an aspect ratio of 18:9.

Underneath the display panel on the motherboard is an octa-core MediaTek Helio P60 chipset clocked at 2GHz, paired with Mali G72 MP2 GPU. The Realme 1 comes in three different models; the first packs 3GB RAM and 32GB storage, the second 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, while the highest in the group offer 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. All the models have a dedicated MicroSD card slot that can accept up to 256GB of additional storage.
At the back is a single 13-megapixel camera with f/2.2 aperture and LED flash, while an 8-megapixel selfie camera is pinned to the front with various features embedded including OPPO’s in-house AI beauty mode and AI selfie. Facial recognition is not left behind as the phone can recognize up to 296 facial points, which comes handy when using the phone face unlock security measure.
Unfortunately, the Realme 1 lacks a fingerprint sensor. This is not the first time though that OPPO knowingly remove this feature, the recent OPPO A3 testified to that. Connectivity presents are Bluetooth 4.2, WiFi 802.11ac dual band, 4G VoLTE, 3G, GPS, and 3.5mm audio jack.
The phone runs the Android 8.1 Oreo based Color OS 5 and has a dedicated dual SIM slot. It is powered by a 3410mAh battery.
The OPPO Realme 1 will be available in Diamond Black and Moonlight Silver colors when it go on sale on Amazon India on May 25. The 3GB RAM+32GB storage version, 4GB RAM+64GB storage version and 6GB RAM+128GB storage version are priced at Rs 8990 ($135), Rs 10990 ($165), and Rs 13,990 ($210), respectively.
