OPPO R15

OPPO has officially announced its latest flagship smartphone in China under its “R” product line-up, the R15. First of all, the phone features a 19:9 OLED display with a notch at the top that accommodates the front camera and the usual array of sensors. It is not surprising to see this becoming the norm after iPhone X debuts last year. The screen is large (and tall) at 6.28-inch and the pixel resolution is stretched to fill the tall screen at 2280×1080.

Other features they both shared are 20MP front camera, rear-placed fingerprint sensor, hybrid dual SIM slot, and USB Type-C.

Fortunately enough, the R15’s runs Google’s latest Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box with OPPO’s proprietary ColorOS 5.0 on top, which will appeal to many out there. Let’s talk about the rear camera— the R15’s have not just one but two cameras like most phones released these days, both horizontally-placed at the upper-left on the back. The primary rear camera has a 16MP Sony sensor with a large f/1.7 aperture. The secondary rear camera, however, differs on both, with the standard R15 sporting a 5MP sensor while the Dream Mirror Edition boasts of a 20MP sensor. The cameras lacks optical image stabilization (OIS) and only offers electronic image stabilization (EIS) on both device.
